Meaning of Kyogo Furuhashi’s Celtic celebration revealed

Celtic have found a bit of form recently, having won seven of their past eight games and drawing the other one. As a result, there is a lot of positivity around Parkhead at the moment, as it looks like the Hoops could be ready to mount a title challenge if they can just remain injury free moving forward. One of the biggest reasons behind that has been Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Japanese star arrived at Parkhead just earlier this summer and he has been absolutely superb since coming in.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Kyogo has scored 13 goals and provided 3 assists in 18 appearances for Celtic across all competitions. And he appears to be getting better with time.

One thing that most fans would have noticed about Kyogo is his celebration where he raises his hands above his head in a triangular shape, which is already becoming famous. Fortunately, we have seen it very often till now and it appears that the meaning behind it is pretty simple.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the celebration represents the Japanese symbol for 8, which translates to ‘hachi’ [Lingo].

That is Kyogo’s jersey number at Celtic and he has only started doing it since arriving at the club. Thus, it pretty much looks like that is the meaning of the celebration although the player himself has never come out and talked about it.

When Kyogo arrived at Celtic over the summer, he was handed the legendary number 8 jersey and it is safe to say that he is doing quite well wearing it till now.

It is arguable that he is the most important player in Ange Postecoglou’s side at the moment and we will be hoping to see his celebration as often as possible, throughout the course of his time at Parkhead.
