Daizen Maeda makes admission about Celtic player

Celtic and their fans could possibly get an exciting view of the future during the international break. As players travel around the world with their national teams, it can get a bit quiet for fans on the club front. But this set of World Cup qualifying matches offer a unique opportunity.

There are strong rumours that Daizen Maeda is on Celtic’s transfer radar, who could decide to make a move in the upcoming January transfer window, when the Japanese league season is over.

Maeda is in a great run of form and is the current top scorer in the J1 league and just scored a perfect hat trick in his latest game for Yokohama F. Marinos, against FC Tokyo. Unsurprisingly, his form has earned him a call up to the Japan national squad for their upcoming two World Cup qualifiers, against Vietnam and Oman.

With Kyogo Furuhashi also in top form, after scoring two goals against Dundee FC at the weekend, the pair will be meeting up when the Japan squad gathers together. And a lot of Celtic fans will be hoping to see them play together on the pitch too.

Maeda makes admission about playing together with Celtic’s Kyogo

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Maeda admitted that it would be nice to play with Kyogo:

"“Kyogo Furuhashi is doing extremely well and scoring goals in Scotland it would be nice to play with him.”"

There’s still a long way to go to get deals over the line and the January transfer window is still quite a bit away. But it would be no surprise if Celtic did indeed end up making a move for Maeda in the near future.

The fact that it was Ange Postecoglou who brought him to Yokohama F. Marinos must also be taken into consideration and many believe that he is the perfect type of player for the manager’s style of football.

Also, Kyogo’s incredible form since joining the Hoops in the summer, could help convince both Celtic and Maeda, that a move could work out.
