Albian Ajeti was the big Celtic signing from last summer. He was brought in from West Ham United for a transfer fee believed to be around £5 million. It is safe to say that the move has not worked out.

Ajeti had made a bright start to life at Celtic and initial thoughts were that Celtic had pulled off a transfer masterstroke. But after an injury early on in the season, his form faded away badly and he has not been able to nail down a spot in the starting XI since then.

Even earlier this campaign, Ajeti got a run in the first-team when Kyogo was out injured but was not able to grab the opportunity with both hands. And now, he appears to be behind Giorgos Giakoumakis in the pecking order as well.

As a result, a January transfer exit might not be a bad step for the Swiss striker, whose prospects of breaking into the Celtic first-team picture don’t seem very bright at the moment.

Vasilis Barkas

Another big signing from last summer, Vasilis Barkas was expected to be the long-term goalkeeper for Celtic.

After the club had failed to bring back Fraser Forster from Southampton, they decided to sign Barkas from AEK Athens, for whom he had had a very impressive spell. Things have not worked out for him at Parkhead either and following Joe Hart’s arrival over the summer, his chances of making it into Postecoglou’s first-team seem slim at the moment.

It is easy to forget that Barkas had made a solid start to life at Parkhead as well but appeared to lose his confidence after a few games.

He was expected to be given a run as the first-choice goalkeeper following Postecoglou’s arrival in the summer but after a few mistakes early on in the campaign, the club decided to bring in Hart, who has made the first-team gloves his own.
