Sign someone in the middle of the park

The midfield trio of Tom Rogic, David Turnbull and Callum McGregor had appeared to have found their feet after some early struggles and were putting in some solid performances.

But then, Rogic picked up an injury recently and is expected to miss a few weeks of action at least. The problem is, Celtic do not have a player in their squad who can do what the Australian does. Thus, there is no direct replacement for him.

Of course, one of the solutions is moving McGregor further up the pitch and playing a defensive midfielder. But then, none of Nir Bitton, Ismaila Soro and James McCarthy have been in brilliant form this season.

Thus, it might be a good idea on the part of the Hoops to make another addition in the middle of the park for Celtic. That is certainly an area where Ange Postecoglou could do with another option in.

Sign a left-back who can make the first-team spot their own immediately

Speaking of a position where Postecoglou could do with another option in, left-back has been an area of worry for Celtic for quite some time now.

Since Kieran Tierney left a couple of summers ago in order to join Arsenal, the club have not been able to replace him. Several players have tried to, but nobody has quite managed to nail down the left-back spot at Celtic over the past few years.

Even now, they have several players capable of playing there. Greg Taylor, who is currently out injured, Boli Bolingoli, Adam Montgomery and Liam Scales can all play there but in recent weeks, Postecoglou has preferred to play Josip Juranovic at left-back instead.

One has to feel that the Croatian international would be much more effective at right-back, his natural position, and thus, the club must sign a left-back this January who can come in and make an immediate impact on the first-team.
