Odsonne Edouard’s overall time at Celtic was brilliant. He was considered as one of the most talented players to have represented the Hoops over the past decade or so. And for most of his Parkhead career, he was absolutely superb. There are many who questioned his attitude towards the end of his time at the club though.

There is no question that he did not appear to be at his best last season. But then that could be said about the entire team. He still did finish the season as Celtic’s top scorer though. And had crossed the 20-goal mark for three straight seasons.

He started this season at Parkhead as well but ultimately ended up joining Crystal Palace. There he has enjoyed a decent start. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals in 7 Premier League appearances, having played 433 minutes of football till now.

Edouard was recently asked about his desire to play for Celtic towards the end and he brushed away all suggestions that he did not give his best for the club. As reported by The Scotsman, he told talkSPORT:

"“No, this is not true. I think the fans said this because all the team played bad last season. We didn’t win the title so they were angry.“Personally, I always give 100 per cent for the team and 100 per cent on the field. I always try to score and I finished top scorer last year.”"

Edouard has made a massive Celtic statement

There is no denying the fact that Edouard was a wonderful player for Celtic. He scored a lot of goals for the club, at an impressive rate and many important ones, including cup finals and Glasgow derbies, and played a huge part in three Trebles.

His last season with the club was not as good as most would have wanted or envisioned. But that’s just football. Almost the entire Celtic team appeared to be out of form last season and it would be wrong just to point one single player out.

We can only thank Edouard for all his contributions to the club, and they were significant, and wish him the best at Crystal Palace.
