Carl Starfelt’s injury is a major worry for Celtic. The Swedish international has managed to establish himself in the heart of the defence in Ange Postecoglou’s side. Thus, the Hoops will be hoping to see him back in action as soon as possible, after he was forced off the pitch against Livingston. In that regard, they appear to have been handed a massive boost by the defender himself.

Starfelt limped off against Livingston around the hour mark as it looked like a hamstring related problem and he was expected to miss a couple of weeks of action at least.

In that regard, the upcoming international break could serve as a massive relief for Celtic, as it will give their injured players some time to recover and get back to fitness. Tom Rogic has also picked up a hamstring problem recently.

Starfelt’s recent Instagram post provides the Hoops some major hope. He posted a picture of himself going off the pitch with the caption simply reading:

"“Back soon.”"

Celtic have a Europa League game against Ferencvaros and a Scottish Premiership game against Dundee FC before the players head out for international duty.

Both of them are huge games though and Celtic will be keen to get positive results out of them. In that aim, the expected absence of Starfelt will be a major worry.

Postecoglou has a few options when it comes to replacing the Swedish defender at the back. The most obvious of them would be to bring in Stephen Welsh, who has struggled for playing time in recent weeks. Nir Bitton could also prove to be an interesting option although he has mostly featured in midfield recently. And Liam Scales is also an interesting player to consider although with the amount of time he has played since arriving at Celtic, it is unlikely that he will come straight into the starting XI.
