After a difficult start to the season, it has looked like Celtic are now starting to find their feet under the management of Ange Postecoglou. They have climbed up from sixth to second in the Scottish Premiership table and are a team in form at the moment. But they have a few worries as well.

The biggest of their worries right now will be injuries. The Hoops do not have a deep squad and as a result have struggled when a few of their best players have been out of action. In the past couple of games, Tom Rogic and Carl Starfelt have picked up injuries and it remains to be seen what effect that has on the team moving forward.

Another big problem has been their inability to break down teams who sit back against them at times. We saw that against Livingston. It was a golden chance for Celtic to reach the top of the table and put some pressure on the Rangers but instead, they could only manage a 0-0 draw.

Joe Miller believes that they need to find a different way to play against this kind of opposition. As reported by the Daily Record, the former Celtic star said:

"“It seems to be the same way it’s been for the last two years.“It’s too predictable.“Possession football is fine but you can’t set up in the last third of the park to try and break teams down and put balls into the box when there’s 10 opponents in there.“It might look good that they are dominating possession but there’s no space there to exploit. It’s difficult when you have wide players – Jota, Abada, Ralston all parked in the last third – it’s congested.“They need to find a different way to play in those situations. It’s too repetitive.”"

Celtic need a Plan B against defensive oppositions

At times, Celtic have displayed brilliant football and player their way through oppositions. But at others, they have appeared to struggle.

With regards to the game against Livingston, it must be said that the Hoops were missing Rogic and his absence was clearly felt.

The Australian has been absolutely fantastic in recent months and established himself as an important part of Postecoglou’s team. He has the ability to produce a moment of magic and unlock defences. Celtic obviously missed a player like that on the weekend.

Rogic is set to be out for the next few weeks at least and one can only hope that Celtic are able to find a way to make things work without him in the upcoming games.
