Celtic must make some big signings in the January transfer window. They have done quite well in recent weeks but it is safe to say that the squad is too light to compete for the Premiership title over the course of the long season. And one player that they must have on their radar is the midfielder who shined against Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma recently.

Not many could have predicted that Bodø/Glimt would get a 6-1 win against AS Roma when the two sides met in the UEFA Europa Conference League. And yet, that is exactly what happened as Mourinho’s side were completely outplayed.

One man who played a starring role on the night is Patrick Berg. The Bodø/Glimt star got on the scoresheet with a superb goal but his overall performance on the night was excellent as well.

Celtic have been linked with Berg in the past as well, as recently as last summer. And at that point of time, he was believed to have been rated at around £1.3 million. It will be interesting to see what kind of a transfer fee he might command now.

Celtic must make a move for Berg in January

One area that Celtic need to improve in moving forward is midfield. Ange Postecoglou does not have a lot of options there at this point of time.

Someone like Berg could turn out to be an incredible signing for Celtic. He is capable of playing as a central midfielder or a defensive midfielder, he is the type of player who can do almost everything. He can break up play, has a good passing range, can rotate the ball in the middle, has a good shot from distance and is a leader to top it off.

He can be a perfect addition to this Celtic squad. Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic do decide to make a move for him in the near future.
