Nir Bitton has featured quite a bit in recent times but mostly in the middle of the park. That is where he played in the game against Livingston, with Tom Rogic picking up an injury against Hibernian in midweek.

The combination in midfield just did not click though as the Hoops struggled against a Livingston side that sat deep. And as a result, Ange Postecoglou might have to have a rethink there. Could it lead to Rogic playing at the back in the future?

He has certainly played there for Celtic in recent seasons to mixed results. But in Carl Starfelt’s absence, that is an option that they might decide to go back to.

He has certainly played more football in recent weeks than Stephen Welsh has and that could possibly end up going in his favour although one would expect the Scottish defender to line up beside Cameron Carter-Vickers in the next game.

Liam Scales

Liam Scales has not made the start to life at Celtic that most people would have expected when he came in.

He was considered as the biggest talent in the League of Ireland while with Shamrock Rovers and many believed was good enough to come in and immediately make his mark in the Celtic first-team. It is safe to say that that has not happened and he has barely featured till now.

Scales only has a couple of Celtic appearances to his name with both coming off the bench, as he is yet to make his first start for the club.

He is a very versatile player though, capable of playing as a centre-back, a left-back and a left-wingback. Thus, he could be the perfect fit stylistically for the void in the left-hand side of Celtic’s centre-back pairing.

But with the amount of football that he has played, one would not expect him to come straight into the first-team picture.
