Celtic made quite a few impressive signings over the summer transfer window. One of them was Jota, who was brought in from Benfica on a season-long loan with an option to buy included in the deal. Coming through the youth ranks, the Portuguese winger was hailed by many as the ‘Next Cristiano Ronaldo’. The Hoops should now try to sign a player who has been called the ‘New Messi’ for his incredible displays.

The player in question is Thiago Almada. He is just 20 years of age, currently plays for Argentine side Velez Sarsfield and is yet to make his debut for the Argentina national team. That might not be far away though as he has been absolutely superb till now.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has already made 94 senior appearances for Velez Sarsfield despite being just 20 years of age. He has scored an impressive 24 goals and provided 11 assists till now for the club.

He is expected to depart in the near future though and has been heavily linked with a move to MLS side Atlanta United. But a deal is not over the line yet though.

Celtic should make a move for Almada

It remains to be seen what kind of a transfer fee that Almada might end up commanding but it must be said that if there is any chance of a move being possible, Celtic should absolutely try to make it happen.

Almada has already proven that he can get it done on the senior level and his potential is special. Celtic have made several exciting youngster signings recently who could go on to be major parts of the team for years to come.

Someone like Almada would fit right in that category. He is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or on the wings, can be absolutely brilliant on his day and might be a great fit in Ange Postecoglou’s style of football.
