Celtic missed out on a golden change against Livingston and ended up dropping two points against them, which allowed the Rangers to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership table to four points. But there is a problem that Celtic need to be more worried about than anything else right now and that they need to solve as soon as possible.

When most of their best players have been fit and available, Ange Postecoglou’s side have done very well. They went on a brilliant six-game winning streak earlier in the campaign and the draw against Livingston ended a five-game winning streak.

But the squad depth at Celtic is not great right now. As a result, very often they have struggled with injury problems. Even in the last two games, Tom Rogic and Carl Starfelt have picked up injuries. And with both of them being first-team regulars, it could have a huge effect on the club’s momentum and rhythm.

That is the problem that Celtic need to solve in January. The squad is a bit too light at this point of time to challenge for titles over the course of the long season.

Celtic need to solve their squad depth problem in January

The January transfer window will be a massive opportunity for the club to solve this problem. They need to make at least two to three solid additions to the squad who can come in and immediately have an impact on the first-team.

The club were always expected to strengthen in January and have already been linked with some very exciting players like Daizen Maeda, Fernando Henrique, Lee Buchanan, Song Min-kyu and others.

It remains to be seen how things turn out for Celtic in the upcoming transfer window but it is clear that they need to make some additions if they are to have any hope of challenging for the Premiership title.
