Ange Postecoglou hits back at Celtic Park booing question

Celtic had the chance to go top of the Scottish Premiership table when they welcomed Livingston to Parkhead. But they could not get the job done on the day and had to be satisfied with a 0-0 draw. A late penalty miss from Giorgos Giakoumakis capped off what was a frustrating afternoon for the team and the fans.

Naturally, the fans were not pleased with the performance and there were suggestions that there were even some boos at full-time.

Ange Postecoglou was questioned regarding his thoughts on the Celtic fans apparently booing after the match and it is safe to say that the manager did not think that that was the case.

While speaking on BBC Radio Scotland and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the Celtic manager replied to the question:

"“Are you saying they were booing us? Were they towards us?“I didn’t feel that. I think the supporters were understanding and just as frustrated as the players. I wouldn’t expect them to be euphoric after the game. I think they’d be just as frustrated as we are.“If they were booing us I didn’t get the impression, maybe I didn’t hear them.”"

A 0-0 draw is always a frustrating result, especially considering that most fans would have expected Celtic to win this game.

They were on a five-game winning streak with four of them being in the Premiership and had quickly climbed up from sixth to second in the table. But on this occasion, it was clear that the Hoops were not at their best.

More than the draw, what would have been more disappointing is the fact that they had the chance to nick all three points late on but Giakoumakis could not take his chance from the spot and many believed that Josip Juranovic should have taken it, having already scored twice from the penalty spot this season.

Fortunately for Celtic, both Hearts and Dundee United ended up losing their games, meaning that Postecoglou’s side will remain in the second spot for the time being. But now, the Rangers have the opportunity to open up a comfortable lead at the top of the table.
