Ange Postecoglou reveals Celtic’s January transfer plan

Celtic find themselves in a tricky position at the moment. They are in good form right now and have won five games on the trot across all competitions. But they will also be aware of the fact that they do not have a deep squad and a few injuries could see them struggle once again, like they did last month. Thus, it is clear that they need to bring in reinforcements in January.

The Hoops made significant additions to their squad in the summer but there are still several areas to work on. This just shows the level of the rebuild required at Celtic right now.

One area that they appear to be looking to strengthen in is at playmaker. They have heavily relied on Tom Rogic and David Turnbull recently but the Australian picked up a hamstring injury recently. And Postecoglou could definitely do with another option there.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Celtic manager said regarding the situation:

"“It’s a blow to lose Tommy as he’s been outstanding but short-term, I think we can find solutions.“Callum McGregor has played played there before, Jota has the capabilities and we have a couple more options.“Long-term, I think it’s an area of the park where we probably need reinforcements and hopefully we can do that in January.”"

Celtic could look to bring in another playmaker in the January transfer window

Like many other positions on the pitch, Celtic appear to have just enough options at playmaker to make things work but will find themselves struggling if one or two of them end up going down with injuries.

Thus, it is very important to make an addition there soon. It is arguable that neither Ryan Christie nor Olivier Ntcham, both of whom departed the club in the summer, were properly replaced by the Hoops. Let’s see if  they can do that in January.

Rogic’s injury will be a worry for Celtic. The Australian had been in terrific form in recent weeks and become a huge part of this team. One can only hope that his absence does not end up disrupting the momentum that the Hoops had built up in recent times.
