Celtic have managed to close down the gap between themselves and the Rangers to just two points after going on a four-game winning streak in the Premiership, with three of those wins being away from home.

That is certainly quite a turnaround for a team that had not won a single away game in months and it is safe to say that Ange Postecoglou’s side are being considered as title contenders now.

The situation is very different from what it was a few weeks ago, when Celtic were sitting at sixth and their title chances had been written off by many. This just goes on to show how quickly things can change in football and also the fact that the Rangers have not been in great form this season either.

In fact, Celtic are very much the team in form at the moment and Rangers legend, Barry Ferguson, has sent a title warning to Steven Gerrard. He wrote in his column in the Daily Record:

"“Ange Postecoglou is getting Celtic’s house in order.“By rattling off three straight away wins at Pittodrie, Fir Park and Easter Road he’s sending out a message that his team really is ready to go all the way. There is some serious momentum building.“And that’s what Gerrard has to find after an inconsistent start to the season. Yes, Rangers are two points clear at the top even despite this unsettled spell and that’s hardly a bad place to be.“But from now until the New Year is usually the most important period of any season. More often than not it’s when titles are won and lost.”"

It is safe to say that things could get pretty tight moving forward and Celtic are very much the team with momentum on their side. Two things could play a huge part in their title challenge though.

The first is injuries. The Hoops need to make sure that they do not pick up multiple injuries moving forward. The squad is not the deepest and we have already seen them struggle recently when players like Kyogo and Callum McGregor had been on the sidelines.

Secondly, they have to make sure that they can keep up the momentum that they have built up in recent weeks and when they face the Rangers, they need to get positive results from the Glasgow Derbies. If this does turn out to be a tight title race, those games might be the most important in deciding the fate of the trophy.
