Celtic made twelve signings over the summer transfer window, bringing in ten players on a permanent basis and two on loan. But despite that, it is pretty clear that this squad does not have a lot of depth and the club need to make more additions. Thus, the Hoops are expected to be busy in January.

One thing Celtic could do with is another goalscorer. Kyogo has been brilliant since coming in and has already hit the 10-goal mark for the club this season. But other than him, nobody has found the back of the net consistently till now.

Giorgos Giakoumakis appears to be getting up to match speed and could possibly make his mark in the future although only time will tell. On the other hand, Albian Ajeti has not managed to stand out in the appearances that he has made this season.

Daizen Maeda is someone that the club have been linked with in recent times and former Arsenal star, Kevin Campbell, has tipped Celtic to make the move in January. While speaking with Football Insider, he said:

"“I am not surprised Celtic are interested in him. His record speaks for itself, even if it is in the J-League.“Get him in and get him scoring goals. Postecoglou has already made it clear that there will be some extra bodies coming in in January. It looks like he could be one of them.”"

Maeda can be a brilliant signing for Celtic

It is not hard to see why Celtic have been linked with Maeda. Firstly, he has already played under the management of Ange Postecoglou during their time together at Yokohama F. Marinos and that connection is already there.

Secondly, he has been absolutely sensational this season and is the leading goalscorer in the J1 League at this point of time.

Possessing incredible pace, the ability to finish with both his feet, great stamina and movement in the box, he could be the perfect signing for Postecoglou’s style of football. Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic can get a deal over the line.

It must be pointed out that the J1 League season will be over by the time the January transfer window opens, which will give them a much better chance than they would have had in the summer.
