The 2021/22 season was expected to be one of transition for Celtic. That also meant that there would be some growing pains, likely leading to a difficult Premiership campaign, which could allow the Rangers to win their second straight league title.

While the Hoops have indeed dropped points, they’ve also shown that they can play some fantastic football and get things done when at their best. And this team would only be expected to get better moving forward.

With some quality additions over the summer, such as Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada, Joe Hart, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and more, Celtic now sit at second place, just two points shy of the league-leading Rangers after the first 11 league matches of the season.

And momentum seems to be on Celtic’s side right now, with Steven Gerrard’s side dropping points in recent weeks. This appears to have raised a few worries around Ibrox.

Neil McCann has told Gerrard and his team that they need to get this team going with Celtic coming. As reported by The National, the former player told Rangers TV:

"“If Rangers are to keep going and powering forward, winning games, retaining the title, because Celtic are coming hard at them, they’re coming strong as well.“They really need to up their game, Stevie and the coaching team need to get into this side and get them going.”"

Celtic have made a good run in recent weeks, closing down the gap with the Rangers

For many, it was a stretch to say that Celtic could win the Premiership title this season. But after the first 11 matches, the Hoops appear to have Gerrard’s side in their sights.

Of course, we have already seen how quickly things can change and as a result, it will important for Postecoglou’s side to keep up their recent form and continue performing like this. If they can, they will definitely be in the Premiership title race come the end of the season.

Celtic have played a very attractive style of football this season and have outscored the Rangers 26 to 19 in the Premiership till now while also allowing three fewer goals at the back.
