Ange Postecoglou makes brilliant Celtic title race claim

A few weeks ago, it had looked like Celtic could struggle to finish even second this season after a disappointing start to the campaign, that not too long ago, saw them sitting at sixth in the Scottish Premiership table. Back then, not many could have predicted that they would already be up to second and just two points behind the Rangers. But that is exactly what they have done.

The Hoops have been brilliant in recent times. They have won five games on the trot, with four of them in the Premiership, including three away from home.

That is a massive achievement when you consider the fact that this team had not won away from home in months before the win against Aberdeen.

Many people had written off Celtic’s title chances a month or so back. But it is safe to say that they are very much in the mix. But Postecoglou is not getting carried away this early in the season. While speaking with BBC Sportsound and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the manager said:

"“It just means there’s a long way to go mate. Has been from the start. So, plenty of football to be played, and our job is to just keep getting better and keep playing well.“As I said a few weeks ago, got to keep our heads down. We’ve got to recover from this [game], we’ve got another game on Saturday. Short turnaround, so we’ve just got to get ready for that.”"

That is certainly the right attitude to have about things from Postecoglou. We have already seen how quickly things can change. A few weeks back, Celtic were struggling in sixth and now they are up to second, and are very much the team with momentum on their side.

Now, the important thing will be to not get carried away and keep building on this momentum, and stringing together wins without taking the foot of the gas.

Their upcoming game is against Livingston, who already hold a win over Celtic this season. But this time, it will be played at Parkhead, which is expected to hand the Hoops a massive advantage from the last time around when these two sides met in the Scottish Premiership.
