Celtic appear to have found a long-term manager this summer in the form of Ange Postecoglou. The start to the season has been mixed to say the least but despite that, Postecoglou appears to have won the support of the fans already and there is a belief that he can be the man to take the Hoops back to the top of the Scottish Premiership one day.
At times, the club have played some of the best football that they have played since Brendan Rodgers was the manager of the Hoops. And we all know how that spell ended.
Rodgers departed Celtic in the middle of the season to move to Leicester City. And as a result, despite his tremendous achievements with the club, he is not remembered very fondly by many fans simply because of the timing of his exit.
Since departing Celtic though, Rodgers has established himself as one of the top managers in the Premier League and perhaps one of the most exciting in world football, guiding Leicester City to the FA Cup and the Community Shield. And it looks like a huge move could possibly lie in his future.
The former Celtic manager is reportedly on Manchester United’s shortlist
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Rodgers is on a shortlist to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the Manchester United manager. He is understood to be one of the four names being considered. The other three are Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane and Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United find themselves in a very difficult spot right now, sitting at seventh in the Premier League table and are coming off of a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
As a result, questions are being raised about the future of Solskjaer at Old Trafford and could Rodgers turn out to be the man to replace him? If the appointment is made, it would certainly be very interesting as he has managed Liverpool in the past.
