It is safe to say that Celtic’s start to the season has been mixed at best. There have been times when they have looked brilliant and at others when they have struggled badly. Some of the players have managed to standout though with one of them even making a list which includes the likes of Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, Karim Benzema and other top players.

That is not a bad list of names to be named alongside. And it is the list of best performing players in several leagues across Europe.

The Celtic star in question is Anthony Ralston. He has done tremendously well this season and has been recognised by WhoScored as the top rated performer in the Scottish Premiership till now.

WhoScored tweeted out the list, which includes Ralston amongst some of the best players in world football right now:

Ralston has enjoyed a tremendous rise at Celtic this season

The Celtic right-back was not expected to make much of an impact in the first-team picture coming into the season. But at the beginning of the campaign, he was the only recognised right-back in the squad and thus, received several starts.

It is safe to say that he took those chances with both hands. Ralston has been one of the most consistent players in this Celtic team this season.

He has looked very good going forward, scoring a couple of brilliant goals while even setting up a few. On the other hand, he has improved on the defensive side of things as well.

Celtic signed Croatian international right-back, Josip Juranovic, this summer. But Ralston’s incredible form has meant that it has been very difficult for Ange Postecoglou to drop him.

As a result, we have often seen Juranovic feature at left-back while Ralston has held onto his place in the team.

It is great to see a player who has come through the youth ranks at Celtic make his mark on the first-team picture. Hopefully, he will continue to perform like this throughout the season and beyond.
