Celtic made several signings in the summer transfer window, bringing in twelve new players overall. Ten of them were signed on a permanent basis. Two arrived on season-long loan deals with an option to buy included in them. But it is clear that the Hoops need to add to their squad in January. And it looks like they have a Championship star in their sights.

Left-back has been an area of worry for Ange Postecoglou’s side this season. It is unclear who is the first-choice there at this point of time. Greg Taylor featured there regularly at the beginning of the campaign but after picking up an injury, Adam Montgomery, Josip Juranovic, Boli Bolingoli and Liam Scales have all played in the position at one point or another.

Lee Buchanan is someone that Celtic were linked with in the summer but a move never materialised. But those rumours have emerged once again.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic could turn to Buchanan to solve their left-back problems. The Hoops have been tracking him for months and sent Mick Doherty to watch him last week. On the other hand, Derby County may let him go in the next window.

Celtic linked with Derby County’s Lee Buchanan once again

Buchanan has emerged as one of the standout players in the Derby County team in recent times and the 20-year-old has been able to establish himself in Wayne Rooney’s starting XI this season.

But the Championship club’s financial troubles are well known and they currently find themselves at the bottom of the Championship table as well. Thus, Buchanan leaving the club in the future would not come as a massive surprise.

The 20-year-old English left-back is a very highly-rated prospect and can prove to be a great signing on the part of Celtic if they can get a deal done for him.
