Celtic have had a good run of results recently following the returns of Kyogo and Callum McGregor to the squad. Ange Postecoglou’s side have now won three on the trot, climbing up to fourth in the Scottish Premiership table and third in their Europa League group. And it looks like they already are working on plans to make signings in January.

At the moment, Celtic’s squad is pretty thin in several areas. One of them is midfield, which is a huge reason why they missed McGregor so badly.

Even though he is back now, they need to strengthen in the middle of the park, especially in defensive midfield. Ismaila Soro has failed to impress in recent times while playing in that role. And it looks like the club have their eyes on a Brazilian midfielder.

As reported by ge.globo, Celtic have made contact to understand the situation of Gremio’s Fernando Henrique and about the possibility of a January transfer. He is believed to be valued at a transfer fee around $5 million or £3.6 million by the Brazilian club.

Celtic have made contact for Gremio’s Fernando Henrique

Just 20 years of age, Henrique does not have a lot of experience of first-team football. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made just 16 appearances for Gremio till now, playing 809 minutes of football in total.

He appears to be very highly though and it is believed that there is a €40 million release clause included in his current deal. He can play as a defensive midfielder or as a central midfielder, both positions that Celtic could do with more options in.

Someone like Henrique would be an interesting signing to say the least. He is not proven at the top level yet but certainly appears to have the potential to be a success in the future.

It will be interesting to see what happens regarding the midfielder over the course of the January transfer window.
