When Joe Hart arrived at Celtic earlier in the summer, there were many eyebrows raised and perhaps rightfully so. The former England number one might have been a top goalkeeper at his peak but he had not featured regularly for a team for years.

Now 34 years of age, this was probably his last chance to prove that he was still a first-choice goalkeeper. And till now, he is doing a very good job at that.

Hart has quickly become a fan favourite, not only because he has made some big saves and brought some stability between the sticks but also because of his leadership skills. And he seems to be enjoying his time playing for Celtic, determined to prove himself once again.

Hart has somewhat appeared to fill the role of the vocal leader following Scott Brown’s departure in the summer. Following the win against Ferencvaros in the Europa League, the goalkeeper sent a message to the Celtic fans. As reported by the club’s official website, he said:

"‘For a 3.30 kick-off on a Tuesday afternoon, to have this place full – we could only win, otherwise we’d have really let the people down.’"

Celtic pulled off a brilliant win against Ferencvaros in the Europa League

It is safe to say that the support was absolutely brilliant, especially considering the fact that this was a Tuesday afternoon game.

And those in attendance must have been delighted with the performance from the Bhoys. After a tight first-half, things opened up after the break and ultimately, it proved to be a convincing and comfortable victory for Celtic.

A goal from Kyogo and a scrappy own goal were enough to hand them all three points and keep their knockout stage hopes alive. And to be honest, they could have scored more, having failed to convert several good chances and Callum McGregor even missing his spot kick. On Hart’s part, he did keep a clean sheet on this occasion.

Now though, Postecoglou’s side have to make sure that they get a positive result against Ferencvaros in the away game as well and then, they would well and truly be back in the mix in their Europa League group.
