Charlie Nicholas appears to have completed a surprising U-turn regarding Celtic just weeks after comparing Ange Postecoglou to Ronny Deila, as the club are coming off of back-to-back away wins in the Premiership. Since then, they have won the game against Ferencvaros as well.

Nicholas had a couple of different stints at Celtic and even enjoyed a spectacular 48-goal season on one occasion. But he has not been a very popular figure amongst the club’s fans in recent times.

It is not hard to see why. Even a few weeks ago, he was critical of the position that the team were in and even called Postecoglou the ‘new Ronny Deila’.

As reported by The Celtic Way, he wrote in the Daily Express:

"“Ange Postecoglou looks to me to be the new Ronny Deila.“I am not sure Postecoglou has realised how big Celtic really are before he came in.“I believe he has missed a pitch. I think Ange thought he would just come in here and his playing style would get him over the line, no problem. But it is not about style, it is about winning.”"

Celtic have found some form in recent weeks though, winning a couple of straight away games in the Premiership, after not winning one in months. And it looks that has managed to change Nicholas’ mind in a very short span of time. As reported by Glasgow Times, he wrote in his Daily Express column:

"“Celtic look a lot more promising and they look like they will be Rangers’ main challengers again.“They have won two away games at Aberdeen and Motherwell.“I wouldn’t say they have built up real momentum but it has been a start.“Ange Postecoglou now looks to be getting a bit of strength on his bench and the signs are more encouraging.”"

Nicholas has completed a U-turn about Celtic after two wins away from home

Things have certainly been looking up for Celtic lately. They have won two straight in the Scottish Premiership and have climbed up to fourth in the points table. With the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor returning from their injuries as well, fans will be hoping that this team can build a bit of momentum and go on a run.

Since Nicholas’ claim, they have sealed a brilliant 2-0 win against Ferencvaros in the Europa League as well, as it looks like they might be on track once again.

It might not have taken a lot to change Nicholas’ mind but Celtic will know that it is way too early to celebrate. Three games is not a long winning streak and it will be interesting to see how they do over the next couple of months before we can debate whether they are genuine title contenders or not.
