Celtic’s season has been mixed till now. There have been times when they have seemed absolutely brilliant and genuine Premiership title contenders. On other occasions, it has appeared that they could struggle to even finish second in the league. At the moment, they appear to be somewhere in between.

Postecoglou’s side have won their past two games without looking at their best. But right now, points is what will matter most to them.

They have now climbed up to fourth in the Premiership table and are just four points off of the Rangers. The focus must turn towards the Europa League though as Celtic are set to face Ferencvaros at Parkhead on Tuesday.

Both sides have lost both their games in the competition till now and need a win. But this will be about more than just three points for Celtic, as it was Ferencvaros who had knocked them out of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers last season. The Hungarian side have suffered a massive blow heading into the Europa League game though.

Ferencvaros suffer massive blow before Europa League game against Celtic

Ferencvaros tasted defeat at the weekend at the hands of Zalaegerszegi, who are currently sitting in midtable.

This defeat brought an end to Ferencvaros’ five-game win streak in domestic competition and also sees them now sit one point off the top of the table, although it must be pointed out that they do have one game in hand.

This will be a bit of an extra boost for Celtic, who themselves are coming into the game in good form but Postecoglou’s side will know that this will be a completely different match and form might very well go out of the window.

Both sides are in tough positions in the Europa League at the moment and need a win badly in order to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout phases alive. Thus, expect this to be an open game with possibly quite a few goals.
