Goals from Jota and David Turnbull were enough to hand Celtic a 2-0 win and all three points against Motherwell. It was also the Hoops’ second consecutive win away from home in the Premiership. And they were handed another huge positive coming out of the game.

One of the biggest problems that Celtic have faced recently is lack of a source of consistent goals. They went on a run of six games earlier in the season when they outscored their opponents 24 to 4. Since then though, things have dried up a bit in front of goal.

Of course, the return of Kyogo should help a lot in that regard and while the Japanese star does not look at his best at the moment after coming off of an injury, he has already made a difference to this side.

And now, they appear to have another positive coming out of the game against Motherwell in the form of Giorgos Giakoumakis, who came on as a substitute in the 73rd minute.

Giakoumakis’ cameo against Motherwell is a massive boost for Celtic

In his first appearance for Celtic, which was also as a substitute, Giakoumakis had looked very rusty. This time around though, it appeared to be a different case.

He showed some good movement and looked generally lively after coming on. And while he is not expected to be fully up to match speed at the moment, these might be signs of good things to come in the future.

The Greek striker has certainly been among the goals in recent times. He is coming off of an incredibly successful individual 2020/21 campaign as he finished as the top scorer of Eredivisie last season and by quite some distance. If he can rediscover that kind of form at Celtic, then it will be a gigantic boost for Postecoglou’s side and their hopes of lifting silverware this season.
