It is safe to say that Celtic have missed Christopher Jullien’s presence in the heart of their defence over the past several months. In fact, the Frenchman has not made a single appearance for the club this year having picked up injury against Dundee United at the end of last year.

Initially, it was believed that he would be out of action for around four months or so but has been on the sidelines much longer than that.

It does appear that he is slowly but surely closing in on a return though and when that happens, it will be a massive boost for Celtic. The Hoops have not looked the most convincing at the back for quite some time now and it is safe to say that Jullien’s absence has played a part in that. In fact, he might very well be the best defender at the club right now.

There appears to be a very positive update regarding Jullien as he is now back in training with the Bhoys. Celtic’s official Twitter account posted:

Jullien returning to action would be a huge boost for Celtic

Defence has been a worry for Celtic for quite a while. That was not the case when Jullien was last playing regularly for the Hoops although it must be pointed out that Kristoffer Ajer was a huge part of that defensive line as well.

Anyway, Jullien’s return to action should be a massive boost for the Hoops although it will be interesting to see how he performs. One cannot forget that he has been out of action for almost a year straight and even before that, he was having fitness issues.

Hopefully, Jullien will be back to his best eventually. On the top of his game, he is certainly one of the best defenders in the entire Scottish Premiership.
