There is no denying the fact that Celtic have made a disappointing start to their 2021/22 campaign. This was always expected to be a difficult season after the Hoops finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers the last time around. But even then, not many could have seen them sitting at sixth after the first eight league games.

Of course, we are still very early in the season and there is a lot of time to turn things around. But if that is to happen, Ange Postecoglou’s side will need to improve drastically.

It has become clear that they do not have a lot of options going forward. Kyogo has been absolutely brilliant since arriving in the summer but behind him, there does not appear to be a lot of cover.

Giorgos Giakoumakis came with a lot of expectations after finishing as the top scorer of the Eredivisie but has struggled for fitness since arriving at Parkhead and is yet to make a start till now. On the other hand, Albian Ajeti has failed to impress in the chances that he has received and does not look like a long-term solution for the Hoops.

Celtic must make move for Kevin Nisbet in January

Celtic have been linked with a move for Nisbet for quite some time now. Rumours swirled around about a possible move this summer as well but it just did not materialise.

A move for Nisbet in January would still make a lot of sense for the Hoops though. He is a striker who has already proven himself in Scottish football and had a very good 2020/21 campaign with Hibernian.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists in 12 appearances this season across all competitions till now.

Nisbet could be a solid option for Postecoglou to have in his squad and his numbers would be expected to go up playing for a side like Celtic. Still 24 years of age, he is also expected to get better with time.
