Newcastle United are expected to shake up the English footballing scene after their massive takeover. And the first thing that they could look to do is bring in a new manager. It appears that they have a former Celtic manager in their sights in the form of Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers is currently with Leicester City, with whom he has done a terrific job. The Foxes have competed for a top four spot in both of the past two seasons, have won the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

Before that, he did a tremendous job with Celtic as well and it was under him that they had transformed into the treble winning machine that completely dominated Scottish football for four straight seasons.

Thus, there is no question that he is one of the top managers in world football right now. As reported Gianluca Di Marzio, the name of Rodgers is in pole position when comes to the topic of appointing a new manager. For that to happen though, they will need to shell out a €16 million release clause.

Newcastle United are being linked with the former Celtic manager

It remains to be seen how things turn out regarding the matter. But as reported by Sky Sports, Rodgers has no interest in talking to Newcastle United about the possibility of taking over as manager.

Of course, there are many other top managers available at the moment that the Magpies could end up going for if a move for the former Celtic manager is not possible.

It will be very interesting to see how things turn out surrounding Newcastle United over the coming years. There is a possibility that this takeover could have a similar impact to what happened with Manchester City over a decade ago. And what impact could the rise of another European footballing giant have on Celtic?
