Celtic handed massive Kyogo boost after international break

Celtic had suffered a massive blow during the previous international break when Kyogo Furuhashi had picked up an injury while representing the Japan national team. It kept him out of action for a few weeks and we saw Ange Postecoglou’s side struggle in his absence.

Since then, he has made a return to the pitch and has already made a difference for Celtic. While the Hoops did lose the game against Bayer Leverkusen 4-0, they did create several good chances in front of goal against a top Bundesliga side, a number of which were thanks to Kyogo’s brilliant movement.

He then went on to open the scoring in Celtic’s 2-1 win against Aberdeen, their first away league win in months.

As a result, there was some worry amongst the fans when he was called up to Japan national team for this international break as well despite having made his return to the pitch only a few days back. Ultimately though, it has turned out to be a bit of a positive for the Hoops.

Celtic have been handed massive Kyogo boost coming out of the international break

First of all, the biggest positive was the fact that Kyogo did not pick up injury. We have already seen that the Hoops do not look nearly strong enough without him. And thus, that is the biggest boost for the club coming out of this international break.

The second thing was that he played a bit of football for the Japan national team as well, which should help him getting back to his best, after spending several weeks on the sidelines with his previous injury.

Once again, he did not start for Japan when they faced Australia but did come on just after the hour mark and got around 30 minutes of football into his legs.

Now, it is back to club action for Kyogo and hopefully he will be fit, available and on form moving forward. Celtic certainly do need him if they are to turn this season around.
