Celtic have not had a lot to be excited about in recent times. Over their past nine games, they have only won thrice. And at the moment they find themselves in disappointing positions in both the Scottish Premiership and the Europa League.

After the first eight league games of the season, Celtic sit at sixth in the Premiership table with 13 points on the board. On the other hand, they have lost both their games in the Europa League group stage till now this season, against Real Betis and Bayer Leverkusen respectively, and find themselves bottom of their group at the moment.

One of the bright spots this season have been the performances of Jota though. He has arrived on a season-long loan from Benfica with an option to buy included in the deal and has enjoyed a great individual start to life at Parkhead.

Some of his play against Bayer Leverkusen in the recent Europa League game was brilliant as he gave Jeremie Frimpong troubles throughout the game. UEFA Europa League posted a brilliant video of him nutmegging and then leaving the former Celtic right-back on the floor on their Twitter:

Jota has made a great start to life at Celtic

When Celtic brought him in, there were a lot of questions about Jota. He had been one of the brightest prospects in world football while coming through the youth ranks at Benfica and was even linked with a move to Real Madrid a few years ago.

But his time at the senior level has not been great till now as he has struggled to find his feet. He has not been able to establish himself in the Benfica first-team and did not have a great loan spell at Real Valladolid either.

But his start to life at Celtic has been brilliant. Not only has he shown his brilliant quality with the ball at his feet but has been clinical in front of goal as well, scoring the winner against Aberdeen recently. And if he can continue to perform like this, one would expect the Hoops to try and sign him on a permanent basis soon.
