Celtic must try to sign brilliant Croatian star in January
Celtic have been linked with several players over the course of the last few months. That is natural considering the magnitude of the rebuild that was required at Parkhead following the 2020/21 campaign which saw them finish trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table.
In fact, the club did sign twelve players over the summer with ten arriving on permanent basis while two are on loan with an option to buy included in both those deals respectively.
But despite that, it is safe to say that Ange Postecoglou doesn’t have the deepest squad of players to pick his team from and we have already seen how light they are in certain positions this season. Thus, Celtic do need to make a few signings in January.
One player that they must keep their eyes on is someone that they had been heavily linked with in the summer itself, in the form of Kristijan Lovric.
Celtic must try to sign Lovric in the summer
It is safe to say that Lovric has been absolutely brilliant in recent times. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the winger has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in 11 appearances this season. And over the course of his time with HNK Gorica, he has scored 50 goals and provided 26 assists in 107 appearances across all competitions.
Those are incredibly impressive numbers for any player. And at 25 years of age, he has most probably not even reached his prime as a footballer yet.
For Celtic, signing someone like Lovric will make a lot of sense. They appear to be very light on options in the forward areas at the moment. When it comes to the wings, James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele are all out injured right now.
Thus, Celtic could certainly do with another option there, especially considering the number of injuries that both Forrest and Johnston have picked up in recent times.
