It is safe to say that Celtic are not in a great position at the moment. They are coming off of a disappointing 2020/21 campaign that saw them finish trophyless and end the Premiership campaign 25 points behind the Rangers. As a result, they also missed their chance to win a historic 10IAR.

The start to this campaign has not been good either, with Celtic sitting at sixth in the Premiership table after the first eight games of the league season. There have been glimpses of good times being ahead under the management of Ange Postecoglou but for that to happen, the Hoops still need to make several additions to their team.

On the other hand, this situation could possibly mean fewer chances for the club’s academy prospects moving forward, as the Hoops are under a lot of pressure to turn around their results as soon as possible.

Celtic’s recent record of bringing through youngsters has not been great in the first place. And Kerr McInroy, who is currently on loan at Airdrieonians, has admitted that this will probably his last year with the Hoops. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:

"“I have an option of another year at Celtic but this will probably be my last year at Celtic. So I need to get as many games as I can, wherever that may be.”"

McInroy looks set to be leaving Celtic in the near future

McInroy was very highly rated at Celtic while coming through the youth ranks but has not been able to break into the first-team picture at the senior level. And now, it looks like his run with the club could be set to come to an end soon.

It must be said that Celtic’s recent record of bringing through youth players has left a lot to be desired.

There have been some positive signs this season with Anthony Ralston, Stephen Welsh and Adam Montgomery competing for first-team spots at the moment but it remains to be seen how things turn out when the club end up making more additions to this squad over the coming transfer windows.
