Odsonne Edouard’s time at Celtic did not have the happy ending that most fans would have wanted or expected, and he was not at his best for quite a while before departing Parkhead this summer to join Crystal Palace. But there is no doubt about the fact that he made his mark at the club and on his day, he was perhaps the best player in all of Scotland.

Edouard played a significant part in three of the Hoops’ Quadruple Treble and while he did not have a great 2020/21 campaign or start to the 2021/22 campaign, overall, he was arguably Celtic’s best player during the course of his time at Parkhead.

Now at Crystal Palace, he has enjoyed a decent start and could very well go on to play a big part in the Premier League club’s season. But it is clear that Edouard is grateful for his time and experiences with Celtic.

While speaking on UMM and as reported by the Daily Record, Edouard said about the Celtic supporters:

"“I stayed four years there. I have some good memories, some good titles, so always (be grateful for them).”"

Celtic need to find a replacement for Edouard

It is safe to say that Kyogo has done brilliantly ever since coming in at Celtic. His movement in the box is incredible as is his eye for goal. And if he can improve his finishing a bit, he will score goals even more often that he already does.

But it must be said that Kyogo is a very different player to Edouard. While the Frenchman was great at finding the back of the net as well, he was also the kind of player who could carry the team forward and turn a match on its head completely on his own when he was on song.

Celtic could do with a player like that in this team, even if not at striker. A combination between him and Kyogo would be absolutely brilliant and could be the key to getting the Hoops back to the top of Scottish football once again.
