Kyogo Furuhashi recently spent quite some time on the sidelines due to injury and had been a massive miss for Celtic over the past several weeks. He had gotten injured while representing the Japan national team in the previous international break.

He did make his return from injury recently. First he featured in Celtic’s Europa League game against Bayer Leverkusen. And then he scored in the following game against Aberdeen, in what turned out to be the Hoops’ first league win away from home in a long time.

It also showed Kyogo’s importance in Ange Postecoglou’s team and thus, it should not come as a surprise that many fans were a bit nervous when he was called up for Japan’s World Cup qualifiers this time around as well.

He has gotten through the first game without any problem though. Kyogo came on as a substitute around the hour mark but could not prevent the Japan national team from suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Saudi Arabia. It is more than 30 minutes of football for Kyogo, which will help with his match sharpness.

More minutes for Kyogo right now is good news for Celtic. He spent quite a few weeks on the sidelines with his injury and is not expected to be up to match speed at the moment. Thus, this international break can be a great opportunity for the Japanese star to regain his fitness and that is a major positive for the Hoops. Of course, the most important thing will be that he doesn’t pick up another injury.

On the other hand though, no player ever wants to lose and he must be very disappointed coming out of the game.

Japan’s next World Cup qualifier is against Australia on October 12th and hopefully, Kyogo will be able to make a positive contribution for his national team in that game while also staying away from any potential injury.
