Jota arrived at Celtic on loan from Benfica this summer and has quickly established himself as a fan favourite. Not only has he caught the eye for his trickery and skills, but he is also starting to show how effective he can be. The Portuguese youngster scored the winner against Aberdeen in the Hoops’ 2-1 win.
It saw Celtic’s long winless streak away from home come to an end and they will certainly be hoping to use this result as a platform to bounce back and move up the Premiership table.
While the start to the campaign has not been great for the Hoops, Jota has been one of the few bright spots in recent times. And it appears that he is growing better with every passing appearance.
It goes without saying that he must have been delighted to score the winner against Aberdeen and he had some great words for the supporters as well. While speaking on Celtic’s official YouTube channel and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, Jota said:
"“Yeah, how good is this? I’ve never seen something like this. And my family was in the middle of them, so I’m just waiting to get home and ask how they felt. Because I think they have never experienced something like this.”"
Jota has enjoyed a great individual start at Celtic
While Jota arrived on a season-long loan, there is an option to buy included in the deal which is believed to be a transfer fee a bit over £6 million. And if he continues to perform like this, then the Hoops would be expected to try and make the move permanent next summer.
If Celtic are to move up the Premiership table over the coming weeks and challenge for titles this season, one has to feel that Jota could end up playing a big part in that.
It must be pointed out that this is the first time in his career that he is a regular starter for a club at the senior level. One can only hope that Jota is able to remain fit throughout the course of the campaign and continues to perform like he has since arriving at Celtic.
