Not too long ago, there was a lot of positivity surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side. They were on a six-game winning streak and had managed to outscore their opponents 24 to 4 during that period of time. Since then though, things have not been nearly as good and the Hoops have struggled badly for both form and fitness.

Over their last eight games in all competitions, Celtic have managed only two wins. It is safe to say that that is not good enough and this side must improve as quickly as possible if they are to challenge for titles this season.

It must be said though that this was always expected to be a transitional season for the Hoops, considering how many new players arrived over the summer while many first-team regulars left as well. Perhaps, it was the early success under the management of Postecoglou during that six-game streak that raised expectations.

Recently, questions have been raised regarding the future of the manager but Postecoglou is defiant. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:

"“I love this. This is what I’m passionate about and I’ll make sure that we get to where we want to get to.“This part of the process is not new to me. You know it’s going to be a hell of a challenge because we have changed 50 per cent of the squad, we’ve had significant injuries to key players, we are trying to change the way we play, all of those things.“I felt we could have been further along but that doesn’t mean I’m going to shy away from it or that I have lost any resolve in what I’m doing.“My history, wherever I’ve been, the starts were always difficult, always challenging.”"

Postecoglou does deserve time and patience at Celtic

There is no question about the fact that Celtic are facing a huge rebuilding job at this point of time. And no manager can come in and fix things immediately. This was always expected to be a transitional season and Postecoglou must be given the time to succeed at Parkhead.

Yes, even then, results must improve and significantly. At this moment, Celtic sit at sixth in the Premiership table and will fall one further position if they end up tasting defeat in their upcoming game against Aberdeen.

That is not a position that this club will want to be in, whether it is a transitional season or not. Hopefully, things will improve over the course of the campaign and the Hoops will start rising up the table soon.
