One area of the pitch that Celtic appear to be very light on options at this point of time is striker. With Kyogo Furuhashi out injured and Giorgos Giakoumakis not having achieved match fitness since arriving at Parkhead in the summer, Albian Ajeti is the only recognised striker in the squad who is fit right now.

Ajeti has had a couple of decent games. But overall, he does not look like a player who can lead the line for Celtic for the long-term. Thus, it goes without saying that Ange Postecoglou could have done with a few more options up top at this point of time.

One man that the club let go last season is Patryk KIimala. The Polish striker did not have a great time at Celtic although it must be said that he did not get a lot of chances at the club either and has gone on to enjoy some early success with New York Red Bulls.

And speaking about his time at Celtic, as reported by the Daily Record, Klimala said:

"“I think many people at Celtic are surely now aware how much progress I have made.“I think that in retrospect I chose well. Celtic were a team playing attacking football all the time, and I saw myself being a part of that.“But there were also a number of unfortunate situations that resulted in me not playing. There was a pandemic and a few transfers of players from the club did not take place.“I took up the challenge anyway. I wanted to compete for a place.“I learned from better players at Celtic. I came from Białystok as a raw player, At Celtic, I gained experience and knowledge. I feel like my time at Celtic prepared me to play at a higher level.”"

The former Celtic striker has impressed for New York Red Bulls

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Klimala has scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists in 21 appearances while featuring for just 1498 minutes for New York Red Bulls. In comparison, he did not receive even half of the playing time during his stint at Celtic.

While there were a lot of areas that Klimala could have improved in during his time at Parkhead, it must be said that he did show a lot of desire to make those adjustments and succeed at the club.

Many will remember him undergoing a physical transformation. And at that point of time, it had looked like he could be set to get his chance to prove himself. Unfortunately, he did not end up playing a lot of football for the club and departed soon after. But he is the type of player who could have certainly played a role in this present team.
