In recent years, Celtic have not had a great record of bringing through youngsters into the first-team. And while things appear to be changing slowly, there is a worry that the Hoops might have lost a number of young players in recent years, who can go on to be big stars in the future elsewhere.

Recently, we have seen a number of youth players depart the club while some very highly-rated youngsters have not been provided enough chances in the first-team.

One such player till now has been Luca Connell. He is yet to make his competitive debut for Celtic. That is very surprising considering how highly he was rated when he arrived at Parkhead from Bolton Wanderers, having already made several appearances in the English Championship as a teenager.

He has even impressed for Celtic in the past while representing them in pre-season friendlies but just has not managed to break through into the first-team picture. After an impressive loan stint at Queen’s Park last season, he again finds himself back at the club and has made an immediate impact.

The Celtic youngster has made an immediate impact on loan

Starting on the bench against Peterhead, Connell was brought on as a 65th minute substitute, for what was just his second appearance for Queen’s Park since returning this season. The club were losing 2-1 at that point of time.

Connell came on and made an immediate impact though, scoring the equaliser in the 76th minute of the game and then Queen’s Park would ultimately go on to win 3-2 overall.

We have already seen the Celtic youngster shine for the club in the previous season though and it would not be a surprise if he manages to do the same this time around as well.

There is no question about the youngster’s talent or potential. His current deal with Celtic is believed to expire in the summer of 2023, and one can only hope that he will get a chance to prove himself in the first-team before that.
