Jeremie Frimpong had come in and quickly become a fan favourite at Celtic. When he arrived at Parkhead, not many would have expected him to become a first-team regular within the space of a few months but that is exactly what happened. And he managed to hold on to that spot until he departed the club to join Bayer Leverkusen in January of this year.

His time at the club was short but fans will have fond memories of Frimpong. His enthusiasm and exciting style of football had managed to catch the eye, and since then, he has gone on to become a regular in Bayer Leverkusen’s team.

Now, the player is set to make a return to Parkhead, when Bayer Leverkusen meet Celtic in the group stage of the Europa League.

Ange Postecoglou was not the manager of the club when Frimpong was there but he was full of praise for the player. As reported by The Herald, the Celtic manager said:

"“He has done really well.“He did well here in the couple of years and I think he would be the first to say his time with Celtic helped him in his career.“We gave him that platform on which to perform. He did so and he got a great move after it.“Anyone who passes through this club is part of our history and I am sure he would acknowledge that.”"

Frimpong could have been a great fit in Postecoglou’s Celtic side

Considering the style of football that Celtic have been playing ever since the arrival of Postecoglou as manager, Frimpong could have been an incredible fit in this team.

A brilliant dribbler of the ball with pace, he would be expected to thrive in Postecoglou’s team. In that regard, his departure did come a bit too early.

He has done very well since then though and established himself as a regular in one of the best teams in Germany at the age of 20. He deserves immense credit for that and it goes without saying that the sky is the limit for Frimpong.

One of the most popular players to play for the club in recent years, one would expect him to get a wonderful reception from the fans when the two sides meet in the Europa League in what promises to be a brilliant game of football. Oh my days!
