It is safe to say that Callum McGregor’s recent absence has been a massive blow for Celtic. It goes without saying that the captain has been one of the club’s most consistent and best players till now this season. And on top of that, Ange Postecoglou does not have a lot of options to pick from in the middle of the park.

Ryan Christie’s departure on transfer deadline day means that Celtic appear to be a bit short of options in midfield at the moment. And the recent injury problems have not helped in that regard either.

Thus, one can only hope that McGregor is back on the pitch as soon as possible. He is a vital part of this team and has been for a while. The new five-year contract that he has signed with Celtic recently just goes on to show his importance to this club.

It appears that there is some good news when it comes to the injury front for the Hoops. As reported by the Daily Record, McGregor said:

"“It’s getting better, I’m hoping to be fit next week. I’m just stepping it up a little bit on the grass this week.“Hopefully there’s no reaction and I’ll be looking to get back in next week at some point, so I’m nearly there.”"

McGregor returning would be a massive boost for Celtic

While there has been a lot of positivity around the club since the arrival of Postecoglou, it must be said that Celtic’s results have been mixed till now. Hopefully, they will be able to turn it around over the next several months and end up putting up a title challenge this season.

If that is to happen though, McGregor’s presence will be very vital. And thus, it is important that he is fit and in form as soon as possible.

It is not just McGregor though that Celtic are missing at this point of time. There are several other important players who are on the sidelines due to injuries right now. And when they eventually return, are expected to make Postecoglou’s side much stronger.
