Kyogo Furuhashi is certainly someone that Celtic have missed over the past few weeks as he has been on the sidelines recovering from an injury. He was injured in the previous international break while playing for the Japan national team and in his absence, Celtic have certainly appeared to struggle at times.

Kyogo arrived at the club this summer and quickly established himself as a fan favourite. His movement is incredible and he often finds himself in the right place at the right time.

It is arguable that Kyogo has been the club’s best player this season till now and with the lack of options up top, Ange Postecoglou’s side certainly have not looked as good in his absence. Thus, it goes without saying that Celtic will be hoping to have him back on the pitch as soon as possible but it appears that they will have to wait a bit longer for that to happen.

As reported by the Daily Record, Postecoglou said regarding Kyogo’s situation:

"“With Kyogo, I doubt we will see him this side of the international window but he is pushing hard.”"

Kyogo looks set to miss a few more games for Celtic

This is certainly a vital time for this Celtic team. While they have been very impressive at times ever since the arrival of Postecoglou as manager, the overall results have been mixed.

After the first six Premiership games, they sit at sixth, having already lost three times. For comparison, they had lost five games throughout the course of the disappointing 2020/21 campaign.

Thus, it goes without saying that there is a lot of work to be done if this Celtic side are to challenge for the Premiership title anytime soon. And Kyogo’s return will make taking that step a lot easier than it appears now. But it is also important to make sure that he recovers fully before putting him on the pitch.

Celtic will next face Dundee United in the Premiership on Sunday at Parkhead.
