While there has been a lot of positivity around Parkhead ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the Celtic manager, it must be said that the start to their Premiership campaign has not been brilliant. After the first six league games, the club sit at sixth, having already lost three times, all away from home.

Just for comparison, 2020/21 was a very disappointing campaign for the Hoops as they finished 25 points behind the Rangers and through the course of that Premiership season, they had lost just five times.

Thus, it is safe to say that this Celtic team needs to improve a lot if they are to challenge for the title. But Postecoglou feels that this league will be tight.

As reported by the Daily Record, the Celtic manager said:

"“I’m not going to look into a crystal ball and say how many points we’re going to need or how many games when we can drop, when we’re still here in the very early part of the season.“You know, people assume things along the way. And you use historical references for that. I’ve a feeling this league will be tight this year. But then again, I could be wrong.”"

Can Celtic take this Premiership title race to the wire?

With the Rangers not looking great this season either, this could definitely be a tight title race but that will depend on how much this Celtic team can improve over the coming months.

We have already seen that at their best, they are capable of giving a tough time to even tough European opposition. And there was a period of time earlier in the season when they were absolutely sensational.

But a series of injuries and lack of momentum has meant that they have struggled in recent weeks. Hopefully, they will be able to get their form back in the near future and start to pick up some wins.

One area that they have to improve in is their form away from home. Celtic have lost all of their away games in the Premiership this season and scored just once in three matches. It goes without saying that if they are to take this title race to the wire, they need to make significant improvements in that regard as soon as possible.
