Considering the number of injury problems that Celtic have at this moment, the odds are certainly stacked against the Hoops right now. The squad was already not the deepest in the first place and now Ange Postecoglou is lacking more than one option in multiple positions all over the pitch.

One would hope that the injured players are able to return to full fitness as soon as possible but instead, it looks like the issues are increasing with every passing game.

Rumours had suggested that Callum McGregor was set to be back soon but that does not appear to be the case now. Mikey Johnston also picked up another injury recently and Postecoglou has confirmed that the team will have nobody back for Sunday’s game against Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership.

As reported by the Daily Record, Postecoglou said regarding the injury situation at Celtic:

"“With Cal (Callum McGregor) next Thursday is being optimistic.“With Kyogo, I doubt we will see him this side of the international window but he is pushing hard.“Unfortunately, Mikey Johnston picked up a niggle on Wednesday so he will be out and I’m not sure when he will be back.“To cut a long story short, we won’t get anybody back for Sunday.”"

It must be said that Celtic need to win the upcoming games in the Premiership if they are to stay in the title race. After six games, they have already lost three times and sit at sixth in the table. Any more dropped points and there is a real possibility that the Rangers could start pulling away even this early in the season despite the fact that they have not been great either.

Thus, the Hoops need to grind out some wins even if they do not perform at their best in the next few games. And after the players start returning, they can get back to playing the style of football that they showcased earlier in the campaign.

The fact that the squad is so thin at the moment due to the several injuries has certainly made things difficult. And it remains to be seen how they perform moving forward.
