Celtic got back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Raith Rovers to reach the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup. This was a much needed boost for Ange Postecoglou’s side who had lost four of their last five, coming into this game.

It was not the best performance that the Hoops have put in ever since the arrival of Postecoglou at Celtic Park. But it was good enough to get the job done. Hopefully this will give this side some confidence moving forward and help build up some momentum.

There were three different goalscorers for the Hoops. Jota, Liel Abada and David Turnbull found the back of the net against Raith Rovers.

But there were also some performances that will be a worry for Celtic, especially that of Albian Ajeti, who appears to be the only match fit striker at the club at this point of time.

Joe Hart – 7

Carl Starfelt – 7

Adam Montgomery – 7.5

James McCarthy – 7

Liel Abada – 7

Albian Ajeti – 6

Jota – 8.5

Substitutes

Josip Juranovic – 5

Overall, Celtic will be happy with the result. Coming into the game, the most important thing was getting the job done and advance to the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup.

So while they were not as good as they have been at times under the management of Postecoglou, hopefully that will return once they pick up some more wins over the coming weeks.

Of course, that won’t be easy with a number of players out of action due to injuries. But if the side are to stay in the Premiership title race, they must improve as soon as possible. Celtic’s next game is against Dundee United on Sunday.
