Celtic have had a tough time dealing with injuries in recent times with a number of the club’s top players on the sidelines at the moment. And it looks like things have gone from bad to worse for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Striker is an area that they are short of options in at the moment with Kyogo Furuhashi out injured. Albian Ajeti appears to be the only striker at the club who is match fit at this point of time.
Giorgos Giakoumakis was signed this summer from VVV-Venlo after an incredible 2020/21 campaign but has struggled to attain match fitness, having not played a competitive game of football in a long time.
There were hopes that he could get minutes here and there, and get up to match speed by the time the upcoming international break was over. Rumours had even suggested that he could make his debut for the club against Raith Rovers. He did not though and now it has come to light that he picked up an injury while warming up. Anthony Joseph tweeted out:
Not an ideal start for Georgios Giakoumakis at Celtic. Ange Postecoglou has told @PremierSportsTV that the striker is having a scan, after injuring his calf while warming up tonight.

Giakoumakis is yet to make his Celtic debut and injured himself while warming up
It goes without saying that this is a massive blow for Celtic. Hopefully the injury is nothing serious but even if that is the case, it could definitely end up pushing back Giakoumakis’ debut significantly.
As a result, Ajeti could remain as the only striker available to Postecoglou for the foreseeable future. And he has put in mixed performances in the chances that he has been given till now.
One would hope that Kyogo is back to full fitness in the near future as this team has not looked nearly as good without him.
Also we would like to give our best wishes to Giakoumakis and hope that he recovers from this injury as soon as possible.
