There has been a positivity around Celtic ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the club’s manager. While the results have been mixed, some of the performances have been very promising and there is hope that he can be the man to guide this Celtic team back to the top of Scottish football.

But it must be said that they must start picking up some wins as soon as possible. While they did well to get to the Europa League group stage by navigating through a tough qualifying phase, Celtic’s start to their domestic campaign has left a lot to be desired.

They have lost three of their opening six games of the Premiership season, leaving them sitting at sixth in the points table right now. In contrast, they had lost five times in the entirety of the disappointing 2020/21 campaign.

Thus, it is understandable that quite a few people have raised questions about this Celtic team recently. As reported by the Daily Record, Postecoglou commented on the criticism received:

"“It’s impossible for people outside this football club to know exactly the information that I have and what we are trying to create and achieve here.“But you have to accept scrutiny and criticism. It’s part of the game.“It doesn’t affect me. Anyone who gets into this job and doesn’t want scrutiny or criticism will quickly realise that sort of utopia does not exist.“The most successful managers still get scrutiny so I don’t think there should be anyone in the food chain who feels they should escape it.“But it doesn’t mean that’s going to dictate my mood, my demeanour or make me angry or make me change my approach.”"

Celtic need to start picking up wins as soon as possible

It is true that there have been a lot of positives about this Celtic team ever since the arrival of Postecoglou. Some of the performances have been excellent and the style of football that they are playing is fantastic.

But, at the end of the day, results matter more than anything in football. When you are winning, even bad performances are forgotten. When you are not, even great performances do not bring as much joy after some time.

Thus, Celtic need to start picking up wins as soon as possible. They had picked up some good momentum a while back, winning six-in-a-row but have lost it since then, losing four out of the last five. Now, it is about getting that momentum back and stringing together another good run of wins to get things back on track.
