Celtic had a busy summer transfer window to say the least. While several established stars departed Parkhead, many others arrived as well. Scott Brown, Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie, Olivier Ntcham and many others moved away from the club this summer. On the other hand, twelve players were signed overall, ten on a permanent basis and two on loan.

It is safe to say that this is a very different looking Celtic team from last season and it is expected that it will take some time before things click. There is a lot of potential in this team though and hopefully they will able to fulfil it under the management of Ange Postecoglou.

One of the most interesting signings of the summer was that of Liam Scales from Shamrock Rovers. He was one of the standout players in the League of Ireland and it remains to be seen how he will do in the Premiership.

Rangers legend Barry Ferguson appears to have been impressed by Scales’ performances for Shamrock Rovers. While speaking to The Go Radio Football Show and as reported by HITC, he said:

"“I have seen Scales for Shamrock a couple of times and, to be honest with you, he stood out for me.“(Shamrock Rovers) have been playing since the middle of March and had a small break in June so he’s certainly up to speed in terms of game time.“It is a big leap, no doubt about it, going from the Irish League to the Premiership but there is no doubt (Scales) is a decent player.“He has got a real good opportunity because, as I said, I saw him twice for Shamrock and he has definitely got the potential to make it at Celtic.”"

Scales is one of the most interesting Celtic signings of the summer

There is no doubt that Scales was very impressive during his time at Shamrock Rovers and many believe that he is good enough to not only make his mark at Celtic but also be a regular for the team.

Time will tell whether that is the case. He certainly did make a name for his versatility and consistency while playing for Shamrock Rovers though. Scales has the ability to play at centre-back, left-back and left wing-back and he is the type of player who will put in a solid performance in almost every game.

Scales is yet to make his debut for Ange Postecoglou’s side this season and hopefully, that will happen soon.
