Coming into the season, it was clear that Celtic needed to improve a lot and in several areas if they were to put up a title challenge after finishing 25 points behind the Rangers last time around. It had looked like things had clicked under Ange Postecoglou though after the Hoops went on a six-game winning streak, when they outscored their opponents 24 to 4.

Since then, their form has taken a downturn. Celtic have lost four of their last five games in all competitions. And in their first six Premiership games, they have already lost three and finds themselves sitting at sixth in the points table.

While there has been a lot of positivity about the performances and the style of football being played over the last few months, it is safe to say that things need to improve when it comes to the results. Otherwise, Postecoglou will find himself under pressure very soon.

Joe Hart arrived at the club this summer and has done pretty well all things considered. And he has admitted that while Celtic want to play nice football, they need to win. As reported by The Herald, the goalkeeper said:

"“Playing nice football, yes we want to do that, but we want to do it for a reason – because we are trying to win the game.”"

Hart recognises that the team cannot afford to lose many more games but believes it will work for them:

"“It’s the start of the season, but we can’t really afford too many more of these – if any.“But we are all pulling in the same direction and believe that will work for us.”"

Celtic need to improve their results as soon as possible

Hart has pretty much hit the nail on the head here. While some of the football that this team has played at times has been sensational, the results have been mixed at best.

In fact, one could argue that the results from the 2020/21 campaign at this stage of the season were better than what they have produced till now.

Of course, it is understandable that this Celtic team will take some time before they start performing at their best. At the end of they have a new manager and several new players. But until then, they need to find a way to grind out results if they are to keep the title race alive.
