There has been a lot of positivity about things ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as Celtic manager. While results have been mixed at best, a lot of the performances have been positive. But as we progress through the season, it is now becoming more and more important to start delivering results and picking up points.

After the first six Premiership games, Celtic find themselves at sixth with nine points. They have already lost three games and only Livingston have lost more games than them in the league at this point of time.

It must be said though that Postecoglou’s side have had terrible luck when it comes to fitness issues. Several first-team stars are out of action at the moment while some of the summer signings are yet to adjust to their new surroundings.

As reported by The Athletic (via The Scottish Sun), James McCarthy has struggled with the pace and intensity of Postecoglou’s training sessions at Lennoxtown.

McCarthy has not established himself in this Celtic team yet

It is safe to say that McCarthy has not established himself in this Celtic team yet. He arrived in the summer on a free transfer and signed a four-year deal with the club.

Things have not gone his way till now though as he has had his fitness issues. In fact, McCarthy has not played a lot of football in recent years because of the same.

On top of his game, he has proven himself to be a fantastic player though and hopefully, he will be able to rediscover that kind of form during his stint at Parkhead. And at the end of the day, it is not just him who has struggled this season.

It is clear that Celtic need to improve as quickly as possible if they are to put up a challenge for the Premiership this season. Otherwise, the title race might very possibly be over before it really even starts.
