While Celtic might have ended up losing their Europa League group stage opening game against Real Betis, there are a lot of positives to take from the game. Most fans probably would have taken a 4-3 defeat away in Seville heading into the game. A number of the players managed to put in impressive performances on the day.

While defence remains a worry for Ange Postecoglou’s side, they looked very good going forward and found the back of the net thrice against a very good Real Betis side. And to be honest, they probably should have scored more.

One man who impressed immensely is Jota. He put in a superb display of his skills and gave a tough time to the Real Betis defenders. The Portuguese winger also assisted Albian Ajeti’s goal.

Jota arrived on a season-long loan from Benfica this summer and it looks like the Portuguese club’s fans have been left impressed by his performance against Real Betis. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, some of their supporters are comparing him on social media to Brazil international, Everton, and with a few of them believing that Jota is the better player of the two. Benfica signed Everton in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee believed to be around £18 million.

Jota has made a good start to life at Celtic

Jota has always been very highly-rated and was a standout for both his club and country while coming through the youth ranks. He has not quite managed to find his feet yet in senior football though.

His start to life at Parkhead has been very good. He impressed on his debut against Ross County and was superb against Real Betis. It is brilliant to see him already rising to the occasion.

What is even more exciting is the fact that Celtic have an option to buy included in the loan deal believed to be just above £6 million. As a result, they could end up signing him on a permanent basis next summer if he continues to perform like this.
